Everything is better when you do it with a mate. The original Prospector three day ride in all its glory. Cross country mountain biking through some of the best single track in New Zealand with exclusive access to trails no one else gets to ride – and all with your teammate at your side. Couldn’t ask for better.
They’re also super helpful for pushing you up the hard bits.
INDIVIDUAL
Sometimes you just have to do the slog yourself. Whatever the reason – you’re a lone wolf, your mates just can’t keep up with you, or you enjoy the inner workings of your own mind – the three day ride as an individual is all about that personal challenge.
Same great course but you get to choose whether you race till your lungs explode or take your foot off slightly and enjoy the spectacular views.
RELAY
The ride option for those dipping their toes into multi-day stage races, the Relay gives the option to divide and conquer. Don’t worry you’ll ride together on the Prologue, but then you’ll have your very own cheer squad ready to hand over to at the mid way point on Stage 1 and 2 as each day is split in two for the riders to each complete their own section.
Aimed as an accessible intro to the main event, the Relay is not to be sneezed at. The climbs are just as brutal and the downhill just as fast – it’s up to you on which section each rider does so work to your strengths.
E-BIKE
No matter how you’re riding, eMTB riders are welcome. This inclusive category is gaining popularity globally and Prospector embraces those who need a little boost in the tank. However remember this isn’t a casual trail ride — bring your A game.
Matangi Claim Adventure Ride

The wicked baby brother of Prospector, the Matangi Claim Adventure Ride is back country riding at its finest. Joining the main race for Stage 2 this course has all the goods – exclusive tracks, epic single trail and amazing vistas through Matangi Station MTB and beyond – without the commitment of a multi day event.

In addition to the refund policy of the Prospector event, we have partnered with Cover Genius to offer event participants the option to register for XCover refund protection during their online registration journey. Those that opt for protection will be instantly protected against unforeseen circumstances which include things such as accident, injury, illness, death, weather disruption, and transportation issues. All customer refund requests are managed and handled by XCover – not by Prospector.
Event participants can register in confidence, knowing a full refund can be requested if something goes wrong.

CATEGORIES
In order to be eligible for a category, both team members must be within the age brackets otherwise the age of the youngest rider determines category (apart from junior riders). Riders must be at least 16 years of age to enter Prospector categories, or 14 years of age for Matangi Claim.
