RACE RULES

Please take the time to familiarise yourself with our race rules

All riders will attend all event stage briefings or watch them online if they are provided digitally

Riders will be courteous towards one another whilst racing

Riders will protect and respect the environment they are racing in. This means no intentional skidding or damaging of plant life

Riders will not litter or leave any rubbish behind in any of the stages. Rubbish is only allowed to be discarded at the events aid stations

Riders will follow all race instructions given to them at the briefing and must adhere to the volunteers and marshals instructions at all times

A rider may not receive outside support whilst on course and must carry the necessary repairs & equipment with them

Assistance will only be given in the feed / technical assistance zones; however riders must be able to fix their own bike

A tool kit and basic spares such as tubes, chain links, lube and tools will be available at the designated aid stations. The work needs to be carried out by the rider him/herself or with the help of another rider

Riders can only receive extra food & or hydration from their own supporters at the designated aid station and nowhere else on course.

Riders will obey all NZ road rules when riding and racing on public roads

You must read and understand all sections of the event website relating to the entry policies

Only registered riders are able take part in the event

Your race number must be clearly visible and attached to the front of your bike

The Race Directors reserve the right to withdraw any competitor they feel is in distress and would not be capable of completing the event at any stage

You must keep to the marked trail and not traverse private farm property to cut the course

iPods/headphones are not allowed as there may be emergency vehicles moving through the course

Bikes must be in good condition and well maintained with good tyres and brakes. It is highly recommended that your bikes are checked by a professional mechanic prior to the event

Cycle helmets must be NZ Standards approved and worn at all times while on course

E-Bikes are only permitted one battery swap per stage, to be carried out at the aid station

Riders are not allowed to change bikes during the race

A minor breach of any race rules will see a team/rider penalised between 30sec – 5min on to their overall time

A major breach of the rules that bring the integrity or reputation on the event may see a team/rider disqualified from the race

Any rider found to be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs with be removed from the event and band from future events held by the organisers

A participant that locates another participant who is injured in a crash MUST STOP to make sure that person is okay

If the participant is injured to the extent they need medical support, you MUST stay with him/her and send the next participant to the next marshal to report the medical incident

The participants that stop to assist will be given a time adjustment based on their average speed

Team riders must stay with 2min of each other during the entire event. Time is taken from the last participant home

Pairs are not permitted to physically attach themselves to their partner with the exception of their hand
